Kid Rock's go on steal that thing, and stay in school!

I'm late on this but if you haven't seen this youtube video from Kid Rock go see it - it's pretty darn funny. It makes for a good show.

Kid Rock's surprising take on illegal downloading | The Audiophiliac - A high-end audio blog from Steve Guttenberg - CNET News.com

I also agree with the comments about buying on iTune is not the best solution either. Whatever we think we buy from iTune anyway.

MagToo -creating panorama shots

Over the weekend I shot a few pics at the cottage that I wanted to stitch together. I happened to read a review of MagToo  on webware, they recommended it, I gave it a shot, and it works well.

Product development outsourcing - close to home

We've all heard those short sentences or short statements from people, and too often I think well what an obvious thing to say "Of course I'm thinking, thanks you for repeating the obvious" kind of thing, not meant in a rude way. One day though this little sentence comes back and hits me in the face.

So my father in law always use just enough words, not too much, not too little. So when Nathaniel was born, he said "Only sleep will get you through", hmm - yeah right... I'm thinking I understand what he means. After 3months oh man! I can't complain much because Manon is the one up every night, but he is so right - Sleep is the only thing that really matters. See the guy has had three kids too, and he knows that at one point they will be getting on your nerves so bad, and if you're not well rested, everything gets very painful, the kids crying, the diapers change, taking one to school, not getting all greens for behaviour at school etc... The worst - supper time, just after a good/bad day at work, it can ruin you, one is talking to you, the other wants to jump off the high chair, and the little one is screaming his lungs out, so you gobble up the food in record time - running for the hills is the only thing you think about. So my point is you can hear something, think you understand, but not fully grasp the depth of what you just heard. We always say Communication is important, and this is a strong point at Macadamian. When it's time to innovate, time is always of the essence, so getting it fully is a matter of success or death. If the type of misconception above can slip in between two people in the same family, can you imagine what can happen when you insert, distance, culture, timezones, etc... Can a company who wants to be successful at creating new products afford to not deal with a team of designers, architects, experts close to home? stickK.com - Put a contract out on yourself!

You know with any significant changes in my life, sometimes I use it as an excuse to let an old habit to creep back in. So with  the arrival of Nathaniel in our little family, well my pop consumption went back up again. I had been good for the last several years sticking to one a day, and now I'm back to several a day. The excuse is I'm tired and I need the caffeine, this is a whole pile of bull, it's the taste, I just like the damn taste. So I decided I was going to reduce the consumption again, and I will most probably use stickk.com to make it happen. I will commit publicly with a $ figure that will be painful enough to pay out if I don't deliver. So stay tune, my date is May 1st, I'm giving myself a little bit of fun and game until then.

WordPerfect antitrust case greenlighted by the Supreme Court

It brings back so many memories. I was right there in 96 when Corel took over WordPerfect. No body knew what we were getting into really, in retrospect. The joke at the time as they say in this article was really that Novell was mismanaging things, the examples were check Unix, since Novell bought it, it's dying, check out WordPerfect same thing. So the joke would wrap up - if MS wants to win a given business they just have to have Novell buy that business and it's just as good as stick a fork in it, it's done!

Cebit: Hannover

Look at the picture below, do you guys have any theory as to how they mow the lawn off of the cones?

here is another one -

Hannover I was told was on of the cities in Germany which got bombed by the allies quite significantly. The story goes that the allies could never quite reach Berlin, for some reason or another, and on their way back from their failed attempt they would drop their bombs on Hannover, a large city right on their patch back to the UK. So Hannover's architecture is both modern and old. The picture below shows one of those more modern buildings.

Check those memory keys - delightful ain't it?

Nice neck lace wouldn't you say?

Cebit in pictures: con't

Now given what we hear on the news about Serbia and Kosovo, I just thought the following Serbia booth messaging was spot on!

Cebit in pictures: con't

Ok - here is the IBM booth, it's one of the biggest, SAP has probably a similar size booth but not as trendy. Green is big in Europe, companies are messaging they care about the environment. MS' Steve Ballmer even mentioned it in his keynote, that MS is greener with Vista than it was with XP, with it reduced power consumption etc.

Ok now what about the food! Here you go - So on the left hand side is the typical sausages they can serve with sauce, and on the right hand side is pork with breadcrumbs(or what seems to be).

Cebit: In pictures - Life is tough!

Look at this guy on the day prior to the show. Every one is busy around him setting up the booth, it was just too much for him!

CEBIT - strategies!

If you have a booth, giveaway big big bags - this way people walk around with the bag hanging off their shoulder advertising whatever you want all over the place. Intel got that - the bag is bigger than my 8yrs old son, it's a huge back, and people are stuffing it with all sorts of things.

pepsi economics

Ok so I have this habit of drinking diet pepsi. I drink enough to be an expert on where the deals are for a little can! Busy guy I know. Anyhow interestingly enough the other I go and buy a can on my way to work, the traffic was brutal, so may as make the journey enjoyable. I get to the counter and I'm charge 1.61$ for one 357ml can. I don't even clue in right away and pay, then I turn aroun and I ask did you just tell me $1.61? Yes sir - with the taxes going down they are increasing the price... Forget it I think just carry on. So the next day, it's snowing a lot in Ottawa these days so traffic is often brutal in the morning, so I stop at another corner store. I go get a can and I read $1.61 for 2 pepsi cans, so did I just get scammed yesterday? I go to the cash and the guy tells me "do you like diet pepsi?, I have the two liters behind you for $0.99" I looked at him and I said I don't like diet pepsi that much, but thanks for the offer. Now just yesterday I paid 1.61 for one tiny 355ml can and today this guy is offering me 2L of this delicious beverage for $.99. The cans are lucrative business and on 2L they make it on volume? what volume. It's still takes 5.5 cans to make up a 2L, what are those insane margins on a can so that pepsi is still making money on a two liters, for a prices that is no where being 5X.
